I’ll probably be pursuing the 320i Jalopnik Edition once I settle in.

The steering is garbage.

Fun fact: in Canada, the only 3 series you can get with a manual or rear wheel drive is the 340i (although I can’t find out if the 330e is rear wheel drive, so I could be wrong).

Yup, And no 5 series can be had without AWD.

WTF you don’t get standard heated front seats in a BMW 3 series? My mom’s Kia Rondo has that.

I always thought this was the Jalopnik standard:

The BMW would be way more fun to drive, though.

If this goes thtough, the Beetle will be relegated to winter duty.

Well yeah, because it’s a Rando, and the only things its got going for it are gadgets and cheap pricing :\

You need brown, diesel and used to go full Jalop.

Well, with a new BMW, at least one knows the AC works and it has a decent sound system. Then again, $40k builds one hell of a 300TD, including initial purchase price.

And I’m sitting here cursing at BMW Canada for scrapping all RWD and Manual models except the 340i. Really like those Orbit Grey 398 though. Thought about them but backed off when I heard they were C$3000 for a set.

I find it utterly appalling that a modern 2.0T engine makes 180 hp. It seems so bizarre and strange when cars like the brz have 200 from a NA motor. I don't know what BMW was thinking with this car but that price makes me nauseous

You drive a current VW, not exactly a high point for comparison.

I say that as a current VW owner, I love my car but the steering feel is far from one of its strong suits.

The F30 is better than our cars for steering feel but rather lacking compared to previous Bummers.

Get a 328i, you'll like it a lot better.

Drive a 2nd gen Tacoma sometime. Steering feels as numb as a dental patient’s face and when fully cranked it turns into what I can only describe as two cheap bungie cords for harbor freight snapping under stress.

I’ve seen employee lease deals on those for less than half that per month. Be patient.

I made mine even worse by out to g all terrain tires on. So everything is an upgrade at this point.

Yes, but the BRZ is also down 50 ftlbs of torque. Plus this engine is just a refresh from making much more. The BRZ can’t make any real extra power without investing heavily into a forced induction solution.

Everyone complains how loaded BMWs are so expensive in Canada, but the standard equipment level is better than the US, and the base price is cheaper too.

Kinja'd!!!1

Yeah, except if you try to order ones with no options, expect no service at the dealer. This year the new cars dealers are listing are like $61k for a 328i xDrive, on top of that there are no credits, 5.9% lease rate and 34% residual.

Kinja'd!!! pjhusa > 404 - User No Longer Available
08/24/2016 at 10:22

Yeah, base model cars are rare, I mean after all our baseline lease special is a loaded 320xi.

That’s terrible, as your base model 328s could be considered “well-equipped” here.
